Bentley Charlotte to open next month

A dispute lingers over territory rights for a Bentley dealership in Charlotte. Despite that, the man who landed dealership rights will open next month.

"We're going to open anyways and worry later," Felix Sabates told me this week. Sabates, Derek Carr Youth Jersey a minority owner in the Charlotte Bobcats and a NASCAR race team, opened a Mercedes Benz dealership in Pineville in 2006.

Last year, Sabates said he hoped to open the Bentley store by spring 2013. Eade told me Wednesday the Sabates Bentley dealership was among several announced during a recent national Bentley meeting in Las Vegas.

"We would have preferred to be the dealer there," Eade said. "But we'll go on with business (in High Point)."

Opening day is Nov. 2 for Bentley Charlotte, to be located in the 7000 block of Independence Boulevard. Bentley will be in the Hendrick building for at least two years. The new dealership will service Bentley, Maserati, Jaguar, Audi and Lamborghini. Combining the Bentley sales with service for several luxury brands should strengthen the business, Sabates said.
